With one win in the past six years, UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock said the chance to beat Kimbo Slice was too good to pass up.

Critics of the 44-year-old have been harsh since EliteXC announced Shamrock (26-13-2) would be the YouTube legend's opponent for the Oct. 4 nationally-televised CBS show at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

Shamrock made it clear Thursday during an angry rant he was not handpicked to be the Miami streetfighter-turned-mixed martial arts fighter's fifth victim.

"I am absolutely taking that as an insult," Shamrock said.

"Critics say I am being served up to Kimbo, and I am going to smash that back in their face. I'm a fighter. I've done a lot in the MMA world. I'm happy with the things I've done. There are things that I want to go back and change. And I can do it with this fight."

Shamrock has been so disappointing in his recent fights, losing five in a row by first-round knockout or TKO, that he felt compelled to apologize.

"I am going to apologize right here and now for my last few fights ... no reasons, no excuses. I will shut everyone up and amend for those fights on Oct. 4 by putting Kimbo's lights out. He's an idiot."
